i don't even know where to begin
i started working for my current company mid July
three months later was sexually harassed by my supervisor
immediately reported it to his superior and had it documented
the first draft was shady (lack of detail and implied a misunderstanding on my part)
made a request to be transferred into another group
transfer didn't happen until Feb
now my department is sh!tting me
not giving me my deserved promotion
rejecting requests to attend training seminars
and last week i just found out that there has been a cover-up
officially i'm still under my original supervisor
he just got a slap on the wrist and that's it

i need input on how to handle this situation
anything would be appreciated
thanks

Look for a new job while your working three.. I'm a pro at moving around and having exposure to MANY company's.. it takes a LONG time for things to get better/Fixed at places.

October is when the offense occured. February is when they resolved.... &

<< and last week i just found out that there has been a cover-up >>

Take the proof to the CEO with your lawyer in tow. They will take care of you and you will have enough $$ to look for another job for 5 months and still have a sweet chunk of change left over for the future.

GET A LAWYER ASAP before word gets out that you might take action.

No offense but when you say he sexually harrased you what exactly did he do? People are really getting out of hand with this sexual harrassment stuff. I heard a woman the other talking about how some guy was sexually harrassing her because he looked at her. Please, give me a break.

Well, lawsuits are all well and good :)disgust:) but meanwhile unless the job was some kind of gift - get out of there! No you shouldn't have to but it doesn't sound like a great job, why not find one where you can be happy?

basically he made the work environment very uncomfortable
usually everyone leaves work around 5
right before the "harrassment" he was making me work unusual hours
when his superior was away for vacation he made me work until 10 o'clock (five nights in a row)
it was just me and him
my coworkers thought it was strange as well
and then since i would miss dinner and offered to take me somewhere
(forced date maybe)?
anyways i always refused
the security guard knew me very well and would check on me
he starting making weird requests
i work in a lab and he told me i should work at his lab bench instead of mine
this was nonsense since all the equipment was at my station
i refused
then he started working at my bench
caught him sniffing my hair one time
the next week i was analyzing data in this little tiny room
only seats 2 people (side by side)
he comes in and starts analyzing
the room was basically filled with silence for a hour
a turn away to look at some printouts and then he touches me
my hand was on my mouse and he stroked my arm to my fingers
i was stunned
and walked out of the room

a couple days later i learn that he made another girl very uncomfortable
she no longer works here
she told several people but never officially reported anything

You're in for a long hard battle. Employee vs big company rarely turns out in favor of the employee. I have a friend in a similar situation, only right after she filed the harrassment claim, she got fired for something stupid (putting someone on hold?) which was basically just an excuse to get her out of there. Best of luck to you.

i got over it pretty fast because i responded quickly and i thought my company was doing their part
i was pretty upset that he didn't apologized to me until 3 weeks later
my beef with him is basically gone now
i just don't like working under his supervisor
now i want to go after my company
they have put my through crap this past few months
feel like i'm getting punished

Patterns such as these are tough to prove, but its basically your word against his. Bring up these items to HR, I know you've done it before, but showing this pattern of putting you down for refusing his advances can show that his intentions are wrong and he should be punished. The fact that he did it before and another woman quit should be enough to cause a little bit of stir.

Its upsetting to hear that you have been abused, but you shouldn't sit around for it and take a stand. My best advice to you is to get HR on him and talk with a lawyer. If your HR doesn't do anything about the abuse, then start talking lawsuit against the company because they haven't done anything to really stop the abuse.

For those who will have this problem in the future:

If you bring up charges of Sexual Harassment against a coworker/company. Get everything in writing. Present it in writing and don't leave the persons office until you get in writting that the issue has been brought to their attention.

It will make you uncomfortable but it will save your A$$ in the future.

this i what you need to do.
forget all these lawyer crap.
one simple thing is to begin looking for a new job.
you don't deserve to be in there with a bunch of horny men.
just quit, or find a better job.
thats all the input I can give you at the moment since we all don't know what really happened.

Not to sound callous but its time you move on.

Either embarass the guy by telling him off in front of a crowd and be prepared to take the consequences or, better,
as someone else posted....get another job.

You're never going to win every fight even if you are righteous.

Move on with your life, its too short.

this really sounds like a repeated pattern of harrassment.

I really don't think it would to hard to prove (not a lawyer by the way). Get it documented once again with HRs signature. If it so much as smells like harrassment then you've got a very tidy sum of money coming to you via a suit or settlement. No one should have to work under the conditions you described, especially if you like your job other then this abuse.

make sure you get anothe complaint down in writing so you are satisfied as to its content. this guy is a jerk. after you have this done ask that other girl to call your bosses supervisor then you talk to him, i guarentte that will scare his supior into taking some action. if notuse your complaints inconjunction with this other gilrs experiences to file suit.

You also have to consider that, although few will admit to it, that filing a harassment suit against one company may very well hinder your potential for employment in the future.
