I was contacted recently on a Ducati forum I post on to give feedback on the development of a new motorcycle.

Here is the private message I received.

Hi,

I've seen that you are driving a Ducati Multistrada and have experience with the Monster! You seem very passionate about it! So I decided to contact you!

Sorry for this very direct approach of getting in touch with you. I am contacting you on behalf of the Austria based (motorcycle) design agency KISKA. Since 25 years KISKA shows responsible for the motorcycle design of a variety of manufacturers such as KTM, Husqvarna, Triumph, Honda, Opel, CF Moto, Magura, WP and many other long-term clients.

Currently we are working full speed on a new motorcycle model, which will be presented in 2016. For a successful development the opinion of passionate motorcyclists and experts is of great importance to us. Therefore we are trying to integrate them into the development process early on.

As our clients work globally, we will be flying over to California beginning of April to catch a glimpse of the US rider perception and to try get feedback on the new model we are working on. Sadly we will not be able to bring a 1:1 prototype but will bring pictures / videos / renderings giving a feeling for the bike.

We are thus looking for passionate motorcyclists situated in the southern Californian region - specifically Ducati Multistrada riders - who would take their time to take a look at the new model, discuss it with us and give feedback.

Please let us know if you'd be interested in participating, it would be a big help for us! The sessions will take place in groups of 3-4 people at one day between April 9th-14th. Travel costs that arise for you will be covered by us.

Looking forward to your reply. Thank you and best regards,

Not sure I want to do this though. Would involve at least a few hours of my time including a couple hours driving back and forth to Orange County.

It would be kind of cool to be able to say that my input may have influenced the design of a new product though.

Any thoughts?

If it's actually a real hobby and passion, then yes, do it. These things are never about if it's worth your time, because it never is. If you think it's cool, then do it.

I'm not a motorcycle guy, but if u was approached by a drum company to give my input, if definitely do it. Do it again, that is. It was a really cool experience.

bingo

I'd be more excited about it if they were bringing a prototype; something you could sit on and get a feel for.
If you pass, you'll probably wish you had gone. And if you go, it will probably be an ok time, but not awesome.
I'd probably go, if for nothing else than to run my mouth with my buddies when the bike comes out. Yea, see that awesome feature. I told them to do that.
A design firm won't ask for money.

And maybe you'll switch from red to orange. 🙂

Not as long as orange continues to make hideous bikes like they currently do.

Oh I definitely have opinions on this. 😀

Sounds pretty awesome if you can swing it!

I'd do it because, as I continue to learn from working in the industry, every bit of "insider" opportunity that you seize will potentially open the doors to more/better ones through visibility.
