Bought a new Kingston HyperX 120g ssd and installed in my Win7 machine.

It shows up in BIOS and in Device manager, but not it explorer.

Now what?

Dave

I click control panel -> system and security -> device manager -> disk drives and then right click on Kingston...device and a pop-up menu appears. Nothing about "make active" but a "properties" option is listed. Choose properties, and no "make active" option.

Where might this "make active" option reside?

Dave

This is 64bit Windows 7. I have not formatted it as I cannot find it in explorer. This is a brand new, out of box SSD, so may have come pre-formatted, but I am inclined to think not. Machine has been operational for 18 months, but boot drive (60 g SSD) is getting full and I want to migrate to this larger drive. But the machine has to recognize the new drive, first.

Thanks for lending a hand.

Dave

This seems to be just about the only route to take. The "Crucial" link, above, leads to areas I don't find.

So, I will unplug the existing boot drive, install Windows7 to the new disk, and go from there.

Thanx for the help.

Dave
