Invisible machine on workgroup

Here is the layout.

3 machines, all on same workgroup
all using same ip scheme, subnet, and gateway.
all are online.

machine 1 can see 2 & 3
machine 2 can see 2 & 3
machine 3 can see 2 & 3

I go to My Network Places>Entire Network>Microsoft Windows Network>Workgroup and only see machine 2 & 3.

**Stumper** Machine 2 has a network drive attached to machine one that works so they ARE connected and machine 1 is sharing files with 2 & 3.

When I go Run>\\machine1 it pulls up the machine 1, but I still don't see it in my workgroup under My Network Places.

What gives?

It works fine if you're attached to a domain...

Yep, but when in a setting where your computers get to fight to be master browser it sucks 😉

It's much nicer when the DC says "you will bow down to me, I am the master."
