Invisible Fence owners - how much did it cost?

Back home, my parents have a beagle who's an outside dog. He has a pretty big chain link enclosure that he lives in, but I've always wanted to get him an invisible fence (an actual invisible fence, because a good friend of the family has a beagle that he keeps in the yard with one, I don't trust a third party model). They can't just let him run around, because beagles get on the trail of something and will never look up tracking it (and tend to get hit by cars because they never see them).

We have a HUGE yard, I'll probably end up running most of the wire myself. What I'm looking for are equiptment costs (trasmitters/collars/etc) or any install costs involved. I know I could call the local IF dealer, but I don't live at home anymore and I'm just trying to price this out at the moment (so general ideas of cost are fine).

I already sent an email to the guy I know who has one, but he's on vacation and I was looking for a little faster response :D

And before anyone asks, here's a picture of him. I think he's trying to escape from my Dad's machine shop sink as he's getting a bath :D

Here's a site with a comparison chart that you might find useful. We recently ordered the SD-2200, because of the size of the area we want to enclose and the size of the dog. You might be able to go with a different & less expensive unit depending upon your needs.

I can't remember the name brand of the one I bought but I think it was around $129 and came with a extra powerfull collar for the stuborn dog :). Whoever you end up going with don't bother getting extra wire from them. Just go to Lowes or whatever and buy some solid core wire for about 1/4 of the price. If it wasn't so damn cold out and dark I would go out and look at the controll box and see what brand it is.

Thanks for the help guys.

I ended up ordering the SD2200 last night from the site Yo-Yo-Ma suggested, gonna stop by lowes on the way to visit my parents this weekend to pick up some wire, then I'm stopping at the rental place and seeing how much it'll cost to rent a Ditch Witch for a day (cause there's no way I'm doing this by hand :D)

unless it keeps shocking the dog into unconsciousness after he's passed the barrier, if he wants out, he'll get out.
