yeah i don't see how that can add to vehicle safety at all. though it is cool.
 
Glass stays in the door in the traditional way. The whole door slides into a pocket under the car. It's an overwrought solution to a minor problem.

Presumably the sliding connection between door and body on both sides is stronger than the traditional hinge-and-latch interpretation.

Not that doors flying open in accidents has EVER presented a major problem for the traditional implementation.
 
Be a bummer if you left the headlights on and your battery went dead. You couldn't even open the door to pop the hood.
