investment baknkers, stock brokers and the like

I don't really know, or understand what it is these guys do exactly. It seems like a very stressful job, but at the same time a very highly paid one (this lot can earn more than premiership footballers)

I dont understand why they are entitled to such big salaries and bonuses, but i guess thats because i dont understand what they do.

Who are they helping?
Is them doing a good job, good for my counrty?
Or is it purely a selfish job that at the end of the day helps them line their pockets and those of the people above them?

I mean to me, this stocks n shares stuff just seems like it was made up for the sake of it, to give people something to do, like some pure mathematics....it's just maths for the sake of doing maths, doesn't really provide any tangible benefit to anyone. Kinda like too many health a safety civil servants who come up with daft ****** to try justify their job title and pay.

Like this VDU workstation checklist i have infront of me. A HSE questionaire to make sure i can use a keyboard and mouse properly and labeling everything on my desk as some sort of health risk. they actually pay some one to produce this drivel. its unreal.

They have the potential to make there employers (and the customers) a lot of money, the ones who are good at this get rewarded fairly proportionately to the amount they generate.

Good for the you, if you are invested in any sort of managed fund then yes. Good for the country, yes but only if it is a free market capitolistic society.

Compared to the 'value' or excess returns they're generating, they're pay is proportionally equitible to yours.

ok but what exactly do they do at work to do this mass money making? buying/selling stocks n stuff just seems pointless some how, you buy nothing, then later you selling nothing and some how make money?

i dont know why, but it just seems so false to me.

They are like casinos. Except that the dealers at the tables can make a lot more money.

i bet he knows how cookies work

buying and sellig commodities and factoring in gains and losses.

I know a very successful stock broker and a very successful investment banker. Meh, the lifestyle is totally different. No time to yourself really, and all you are doing is making money for rich people or wealthy banks (I see no real difference making in it unless you say that it helps build infrastructure).

Don't listen to these guys.

Bankers go to work, get naked, and roll around in the Cash all day. Some will deny it, others will ridicule, but that's what Bankers do. :shrug;
