I think the law regarding Roth IRAs changes at the end of this year...my aunt recommended I sink the max ($4000) into a Roth IRA before 2006.

I just put it in Vanguard's Target 2045 Retirement Fund. It seemed to make sense.

I put mine in Vanguard Wellington for my first contribution. You realize you can contribute each year to different funds right?

Been in the green about, oh, 80+ years. And the past couple of decades it's averaged about 10%. Looked more stable than S&P for a 40 year investment.

True but historically funds generally increase the fastest in the Holiday rush. At least it did with Wellington.

A few bucks today translates into hundreds, possibly thousands in 40 years.

I also figured with our lack of fiscal responsibility and refusal to increase taxes, that we'll see major inflation soon. Invest the money now and let it ride the inflation instead of letting it waste away.
