investing advice

Okay im starting to think about investing my money, im 17 and have saved about 5000$ canadain, im thinking of keeping about 1000$ in my account as a buffer if I ever need it for car repairs or something and puting the rest somewhere, but I dont know where, for how long or what kind of thing to do with it. Just get one of those 2% interest cant touch money for a year bank accounts or something?

Go to chapters or your local library and look in the personal finance section & look at the Money Sense Magazine........... very good publication for Canadians.
