Inverted Power Point Graphics (what causes this)

I am working on a presentation in Office XP PowerPoint. I opened some files that I had previously created in Office 2000, unfortuneatly the graphics (ranging from .bmp,.jpg,.gif) all seem to be backwards or flipped upside down. No matter what I have tried I cannot figure out how to fix this. Have any of you had this problem or know how to fix it?
