I'm looking for a way to "simplify" girl scout cookie season this year. I bought a barcode scanner from Amazon and was looking for a simple inventory application (or register type application). I'd like to be able to register the 8 different barcodes and then store the amount of each type. When we sell cookies at our booth, I want our girls to scan the boxes as we sell them so it updates our inventory. That's about all I need out of it.

Any suggestions?
 
I don't know a thing about it, but I looked a bit online. The stuff I found seemed kinda complicated. Even the "easy" packages were geared towards professional businesses. I wonder if you could work the scanner into a spreadsheet workflow? It's really just a number reader. If that'll work as a normal device on the desktop, you may be able to hack a spreadsheet together.
