I'm looking for a program that can go to each machine on a network and take an inventory of all software on that machine. If it gives versions numbers, etc, so much the better. The few I have seen either take ungodly amounts of time to setup, ie it would be just as fast to walk over and do it manually, or don't do a good job, ie only grabs exe's or whats listed in the start menu. If anyone knows of any program like that I'd appreciate it.
 
dang, i could use somethign like that as well, did find something close a while back, it was based on an access db (i think) and had you run an executable (from a mapped location on teh server) on the client that scanned the system and reported back to the server app, it was free too i think, but somehow very cludgy and i never pursued it, but i don't think i ever gave it enough testing, i think i'll go back and find it again and see if its been improved... i'll update you if i find it again.
