Invasion of the Opossums

The first one was on Monday (no pics). This morning at about 5:30 my dog alerted us to the presence of another Didelphis virginiana via frantic barking.

Yeah they're disgusting. Somehow one managed to sneak into a house we were renting. It decided to hide under a bookcase when we proceeded to poke it with a stick. The opossum responded by digging its claws into the carpet and baring its teeth at us. My brother and I responded by poking it some more with a stick. We got bored and went to sleep. It never came back. Lesson - poke possums with sticks.

It's pretty cool watching them play dead. My lab will try to kill them, then they will play dead. She'll walk away, then they'll run off. She'll catch it again and will eventually kill it.
