invalid system disk

I get this message (invalid system disk ) when booting with floppy enabled floppy not enabled and the floppy disconnected. I can boot successfully into dos from the floppy. I ran scan disk sucessfully. Is the boot sector corrupted, can i replace this without formatting ?? any help appreciated

You should be able to reinstall windows on top of it. I assume that you are not using XP, because I'm pretty sure that has a repair function and you wouldn't be here.
If reinstalling on top doesn't work there is another thing but I don't remember what it was and I think it might have been for NTFS only.
Other than that it's time to format.
