Arrgghhhh! Very few customers actually piss me off, but this one is golden.

Lady calls up, says she can't get the tray out of her printer. She also says that even when she can get the trays open, she doesn't like how hard she has to pull to get them out. "I'm not strong enough to have to do that." <sigh> OK, the initial pull to open the tray does require a harder pull than the rest of the way - The tray fits tightly at the front to keep it in place, that is NORMAL. It's not very hard, I've never heard anyone complain about it before. But that is normal. The jammed tray, however, does happen occasionally. There's really only one thing that can cause that, there's a small access panel on the tray that flips open. If the tray is inserted into the printer with that flap open, when you try to open the tray it will catch on the inside edge of the printer & won't allow you to open the tray. Pure user error, the panel snaps shut nicely & should NEVER be open when putting the tray into the printer. I'm 99% positive this is what happened. I had her pull the 3rd tray out & showed her the access panel, she agreed that it was likely that is what had happened.

The solution for this is simple: The back of the printer is open at the tray area, you can reach right up inside the tray with a ruler or something similar & snap the door shut. End of story, the tray opens fine, & all is well. Extremely easy, takes 2 minutes to do. She has a ruler, she's going to try it.

Couple minutes later she returns:

Her: I'm not strong enough to turn the printer around.
Me: You can't get to the back of it?
Her: No, it's on a desk, up against the wall, & I'm not strong enough to turn it.
Me: Umm... (completely dumbstruck, this printer weighs ~45 lbs... I'm not asking her to lift it, I just want her to stick a ruler up it's ass)
Me: I guess I can send a tech out... (collect her info)
Her: When will he be here?
Me: Most likely tomorrow, it will depend on how far you live from the dispatch center.
Her: Well, you find out exactly when, because if it's not tomorrow that's not acceptable.
Me: Grr...

Where do they get these people? I swear to God, it seems like a HUGE percentage of office secretaries are freakin' invalids! They're not strong enough to lift out a toner cartridge, they're not strong enough to turn a printer around that weighs less than a monitor & is sitting on a nice slick desk. And when I agree to send someone out for something that really should be user fixable they bitch about how long it will take.

Arrgghhh!

i love the "unacceptable" part. what exactly happens if she doesn't "accept" it? she's pretty much at the mercy of viper gts's company.
