Invalid size or check sum of file ... error

I've been getting some errors recently when trying to delete several files. I'm worried there might be some kind of problem either with my hard disks or with some software (windows, symantec, something)

Twice so far on seperate files I've gotten this error when I try to delete them:

"Invalid size or check sum of file or unsupported compression format - Native error: 00008. File processing error, possibly disk is full"
Abort, retry, ignore

The disk is not full. One was some random software download and the 2nd was Media Player 10 setup exe. If I've seen 2 in 2 days like this, I have to assume there are a lot more with this problem.

Yahoo search doesn't turn up anything useful. What could this mean?

goto

mycomputer -> c -> rightclick -> property -> utility -> scan

alternatively

start->run
then type chkdsk c: /f

Well, I did a full scan disk including checking for bad sectors and it didn't seem to find anything...

How are you trying to delete them? it looked like its trying to open the file while you are deleting ...;confused;
did you run a virus check?

I'm just holding shift and pressing delete (to bypass the recycle bin). This is a very recent (within 3 weeks) install of windows and I just put Norton AV on it. I haven't run a full virus scan... I doubt it since I don't really install anything weird/shady or go to any offbeat websites. I'll try it though.
