Intuit Product Activation SUCKS!

I just upgraded my computer. I go to re-install my legitimate, purchased copy of QuickTax 2001 so I can do my friend's taxes tomorrow. And it won't install! It says this copy has already been installed on another computer. You know what really bites? I have to pay long distance charges to talk on the phone and have them sort out this mess. And on top of that, their technical support is only Monday to Friday.

For goodness sakes, this product activation crap is really just that...CRAP. Only legitimate customers ever get into these scenarios too. Intuit technical support will be getting an earful on Monday. I format about twice a year and if software starts getting to be this much of a hassle to install after a format, using a computer is going to really suck.

Well, I just got off the phone with Intuit. It took about 10 minutes for the entire process. I'm still upset, but I didn't take it out on the tech support person. I'll likely write a letter to Intuit and one of the Toronto newspapers' tech columnists. What made me a bit upset this time around is that they said the next time I re-install the software, I will have to fax over information about myself. WHY? I don't even have a fax machine that works anymore. All I can say is they won't be getting anymore of my money. I will try out TaxWiz next year or some other competitor's software. Anyways, let this be a warning to all of you QuickTax users...think before you format;) And make sure you don't do it on a weekend if you're expecting to do your tax return work that weekend!
