Hi all --

Has anyone come across an interesting article or blog post about how the industry dynamics of the memory (RAM) market, and the way that it's fragmented among different OEMs?

I am sure that the main chip Intel/AMD/TSMC landscape has been dissected thoroughly, but I am interested in how the memory manufacturer market works.

E.g. why there are so many no name small brands of RAM. Is it that this technology gets fab hand-me-downs from the previous generation of chip manufacturers, and buys this stuff on the cheap, so can be manufactured on the cheap?

And what kind of margins are memory manufacturers making?

Thanks for any sources you may have come across!

The reason why there's so many "no name" small brands has to do with the fact that their only partners including others to big name memory chip manufacturers like Samsung, SK Hynix, or Micron much like the AIBs for AMD and Nvidia ...

The margins that they used to make were small up until DDR4 came ...

In short the ones that make the actual memory chips themselves are mostly only 3 companies and they hand it down to smaller companies to make the modules ...
