Intramural Sports in college

I can play both sports pretty well, only played basketball in junior high. Never was on the football team. I really just wanna join to have fun and make friends. Do I have the right idea or is intramural sports like super competitive and intense?

Depends on the leagues ... I've play in some pretty intense basketball intramurals ... if you want to meet people, play both.

Intramurals were one of the best parts about college. Definitely a great way to introduce yourself to groups of people you don't see/interact with every day.

It's hard to say how competitive they are. I did a lot of basketball in college and it was pretty casual. You didn't have to be real good individually to dominate, just play well as a team.

Football was a little bit different. You had the rejects/dropouts from the football team coming over and just taking out their aggressions on the other team. It really wasn't all that fun, and it could get pretty brutal.

Your school may have different divisions, like a rec league and a competitve league. The rec ones are quite a bit more enjoyable if you aren't out for blood.

this is good info. i think im more fit for basketball i play at a court with many different people. Id say im pretty good. Football seems tough.

our school had 2 leagues (boys & coed) and 3 leagues (a, b,c) for basketball.

if youre not a fat slob youll have fun in it. im not great by any means but i did well in them

play volleyball, too. its fun

I do co-Ed volleyball with friends. Its a great way to see girls that are competative, and some actually are good looking...especially in the outfits they wear. I a few of the females on my current IM team we met playing last year.

I did IM football in the Fraternity league. We don't have no flag football here. I will tell you that was a intense, tough league. Since we didn't use flags, it was one hand touch with full on blocking for the offensive and defensive lines. It was "rough touch" football, emphasis on the rough. Also, we had some really nice artificial turf fields and refs. for Football.
