Interweb password reset function

Any good reason (e.g. security risk) that websites could not, when attempting to use the 'forgot/reset password' feature, inform you 'no account found by this email address' or 'username'?

Bugs me when the system reports 'Check your email!' and then no email comes because it is not previously in their system. Won't even send an email to inform no such account is in their system. Just leaves you hang.....
