Got a call from my HR manager at 6:45am and she informed me that they wanted to interview me for a position that recently opened up. Gladly I accepted only to find out that the interview was to be at 7:30am that morning. Would not have been a problem except that my shift ran until 7am and then I had to do my production meeting until 7:30am.

So tell them that you unfortunately can't make that time, and ask what else is available. I mean really, they have to realize you have other responsibilities and commitments. If they don't, you don't want to work there anyway.

[edit] oops, didn't realize on first reading that it's within your company. Shrug ... same advice holds. You can't slack on your current job to pursue a new one. They should understand that.

I already work for them and this job would result in at least a $15k raise so I couldn't say no. ;)
