Interviewing Round One

Had my first interview today for a career after college. Interviews sure are pretty darned intimidating. Add onto the fact that my girlfriend of nearly 3 years currently is in Grad School 3 1/2 hours away from me and wants to be closer. I am so stressed right now. I had an inital phone interview and today was the 1st face to face. We talked for about 35 minutes mainly about the company and the position and my qualifications. About 3/4 of the way through the interviewer said he wanted me to meet the department head, he was out of the office however. I hope this was a good sign that at least he was interested in me. He told me at the end of the interview that they are still in the process of conducting interviews and they will know sometime next week of their intentions for a second interview and that they would call regardless. Know I have to sit patiently for a week with my fingers crossed. Salary nor benefits were discussed, I am assuming this is typical for the 1st face to face interview?

Yep sounds about right so far.

Remember to smile, keep eye contact, and ask enough questions so that they know you're engaged.

well most of the 1st round interviews i've been in have focused on me, and not the company. it may just be a matter of the industry and/or particular position. and yes, salary/benefits are usually discussed only when you're given an offer.

The position is for financial analysis/customer service. I was brought in because of my 6 years of retail sales experience/customer service. I have limited knowledge of leasing which is what the job is, however it seems as they are more interested in someone with excellent customer service skills.
