Interviewing an old teacher

Ok by far the wierdest thing all week just came up.
My freshman year of college I started off as a comp sci major. We had this prof name xxxx...worst prof of comp sci ever...
She had the communication skills of a doormat, would constantly loose students papers, and the programming ability of a 10 year old...I think the only reason they hired her on as faculty is that they were desperate in need and she had worked in industry. Needless to asay 3 semesters after she got the job she got fired...

Now shift forward 4 years...I've heard off and on about Ms xxxxx coming back to school (I work at the university for the last 2 years) and trying to get her degree in Biology. We had the chance of interacting a couple of times as she has designed the websites for a couple web based bio classes (I'm one of the web class oversears kinda). Her designs were crap to say the least. Could not follow a W3c guideline if her life depended on it. Even Microsoft Word Conversions would have been better (for those of you that know what I'm talking about ....yes they were that bad)

So this week our director says he got an email from a student looking for a job. It was just out of the blue and their looking for some part time web design work. We are in hiring mode right now so all is cool. We should take a look at this persons resume and make sure all is good. Well I get an email from my manager saying this person is too good to be true...and that shes set up a interview with this person for next tuesday. Who else is it but missxxx herself. So now next tuesday I'm stuck interviewing my old prof for an underling position in my group (web design group) when i know already she doesn't have the attitude or skills to effectively produce anything of quality for us.

So looking for opinions on what to do...do i decline to interview her and let my mananger decide? Do I tell my manager stright up i wont work with this woman and hriing her would be a huge mistake? or do i not say anything?

rundown: Old professor applied for a job in my group...never liked her as a person or a prof...have to interview her for a position next tues...what would you do?

Interview her, ask about doctype tags, why <a href="file.php?test=1&thing=2"> isn't valid html, how the span and div tags are useful with CSS... Just force her to make an ass out of herself and then don't hire her.

That is a good idea... prove to her she is unqualified.

Interview her to make your boss happy...then give your final opinion to him. I say you should still walk into the interview with an open mind because she may have improved her skills since the last time you worked with her.

next time rundown goes first, not AFTER I read the entire thing 🙂 or in bold at least

anyways, just tell our manager your prior experience with her, he should listen as long as you guys have other qualified people applying.

Whatever happens you have the inside track on her. If you let her get the position for not speaking the truth you're not helping out anybody (well except her!).

It's a long shot...but uh...you should probably edit her name out - call her "Jane Doe" or simply "Linda."

Anyway, ask her questions so she makes an ass out of herself during the interview.

simply ask for examples of her work, print out the src code and ask her why she did it the way she did. install netscape if the code is really that bad, netscape should vomit up garbage.
