Had the second interview yesterday. Same two people, hr lady, ops manager, and one of the higher ups. Went quite well given how awkward these things tend to be. Ops manager was in a much better mood. Had a good chat with him before the ball got rolling.

So... I get an email today. They've made a decision and they think they would like to bring me on pending a few things. Standard background check and reference checks. I got the usual forms to fill out. Now I've just got to hunt some people down, which is easier said than done at this time of year.

i had an interview last friday, wrote them a thank you letter on monday, and called today. they said they havent made a selection yet, probably next week.

ive got my fingers crossed.

Yeah, I'm ecstatic. Especially since my boss's boss has been really getting on my nerves this week. Can't wait to file my notice, then spend the next two weeks watching that slow motion train wreck from the sidelines.

Fantastic early Christmas present. :awe:
 
Congrats! Remember to make them fall in love first, then let them throw out a number first when negotiating wage/salary.

If you have batshit stupid balls like me, ask for 15-20% more using 'other interviews' as your leverage (whether you have them or not, they can't possibly know). Practice pokerface my friend, it'll get you far in life.

congrats OP. when the dust has settled and they make you an offer, make absolutely sure that you get this in writing; salary, benefits, hours, etc.

don't accept the job right away and give yourself a day to think it over before accepting the position. as this is sort of an entry job for you, unless you have some sort of leverage or super special skill i would advise against negotiating for higher wages at this time. always remember that employers are never required to hire you. when you gain more experience, skills and stuff, and the salary ranges get higher and higher, you can then negotiate for a bit more 😀

Grats, i hate jobs that require 4-5 rounds of interviews. 3 should be the max, its not like you are looking for a significant other

So it's two months after I went for the interview and I still haven't heard from them. I emailed them and all they would say is there's a delay on their end, and I was a "strong candidate". Well, that doesn't sound so promising. So I have pretty much given up on them hiring me.

BUT...

They called me today out of the blue. I've been awarded the job of desk operator in the webcast weather department! I couldn't believe it. I start sometime in April. Since its a whole new department, they don't have a fixed date yet. They said they'll have that info by March 16th.

It pays quite well for an entry level position. $38k plus immediate health benefits and full benefits after six months, two weeks vacation with an additional week added each year thereafter. 2012 is really looking up for me. 🙂

Next step after getting that first paycheque will be house/apartment hunting. 😉

They're sending the package out shortly. I'm going to fill it in ASAP, then polish off my resignation letter and GTFO of that shitty car rental company, then take a long vacation. :thumbsup:
