I hate it when they ask salary expectations. Don't want to lowball myself nor do I want to talk myself out of a job.

What questions do you hate?

Ehh, they asked me how much I was paid at my last job (IT). I was extremely underpaid. I told them and they laughed, and they said for me not to worry and that I would be paid fairly this time around. I should've lied or something.

"Explain a situation where you ________________"

That's my number one pet peeve interview question. It's always random and you never really know what situation they're going to try and get out of you. For me, it's always uncomfortable answering this question since I never really have an answer that doesn't sound off the wall, because a lot of experiences in life put you in off the wall situations.

A close 2nd would be "Tell me about yourself", a question I always feel they're looking for a specific answer too. Even though you want to just tell them about your work and academic experience, you always have that second thought later in your mind whether or not you should of said something more relavant to the position perhaps.

"What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?" That one always gets me.
also, "What is your favorite colour?"

I'd be honored to be employed under King Arthur ;_;

I cuss too much, bitch.

I hate this one too, I have lots of bullshit fluff to talk my way out of that one.

I hate when I get interviewed by someone for a technical position who has no fucking idea what they're talking about AND it's supposed to be a technical interview. I can understand these folks giving behavioral interviews but it frustrates me to no end when even if I was giving a total bullshit answer they wouldn't know the difference. It's like what's the point in even replying?

What questions do you hate?

NEVER give a number. EVER. Just give the stock answer.

questions I hate:
1) describe a scenario where you failed and what you learned
2) A peer level's personell is blowing you off, how do you handle them? What channels would you employ?

I think everybody hates the "biggest flaw" question, even if you've got a good answer for it.

It's like blindfolding someone, pointing the gun at their foot, and shaking their arm. Odds are decent that they'll shoot themselves in the foot.

This past interview is the only time I have ever given a number only because they kept questioning until I gave a number. Luckily, I knew the salary range (inside sources) and gave a number at the high end of the range.

Typically, I answer with something along the lines of "A competitive salary that allows me to exceed my current lifestyle and takes into account the cost of living of your area."

Does "Tire iron to the ribs" qualify as an acceptable answer for #2?

Its asking you to lie

or at least manipulate a flaw to make it sound like a positive. I think that's the key with these Q's.

I have an interview Monday. Im fairly confident that i'll get the job, and there were some cuties I saw working there when I went in.

Whats your ways of getting around the biggest flaw question?

Using a positive and flipping it as a flaw.

"I tend to work late hours, and try to go beyond what's expected of me. It tends to make it difficult to have a good relationship with my peers/family/friends"

"I will go out of my way to watch out for my peers and on one occasion that led me to trouble in not finishing my own work."

Not the best answers, but you get the idea... say something that could be interpreted as both positive and negative.

Not to slam..

#1:
Relationships with your peers/family/friends is more important than anything else you do. This statement portrays an isolationist that is difficult to work with.

#2:
that's a positive, you always watch out for your own.
