For those of you who have not been following the "Scribe needs a new job" threads, I have been interviewing with a company in Times Square NYC, for a systems administrator position.
Interview #2 just got over with. It was a peer interview with two people who grilled me with technical questions, see what I know and what I don't. I knew pretty much everything they needed me to.
I walked out with the HR lady, asked her what the next step was.. she's like oh we'll give you a call next week -- we still have some candidates to bring in and yada yada. So I say okay thanks, and leave.
I head to Penn Station, wait about 20 minutes for the next train and I'm getting on, and my cell phone rings. She's like "I know I'm calling you back a week earlier, but I wanted to know if you have availability for meeting with the VP of something or other, and if you have a list of professional references you can give me."
Needless to say, this is in about 35-40 minutes AFTER I left the interview. I know it's still early, but I am feeling pretty confident the interviews went well and that they are prepared to talk turkey. The fact they have called me back near immediately on both occasions bodes well for me, and I think will play well into my negotiations for salary and such. I think the fact she called me back so quickly is that they are all pretty impressed (hence my being good? haha) and they got their candidate. Needless to say, I'm going to try to use that to my advantage during the negotiation process.
Anyways, just wanted to gloat a little... I'm not one to do it but I'm having a great day thus far and I want to keep it going. Any advice as far as the salary negotiations go I would appreciate (I still have some from the other threads). And tell me if I'm jumping the gun and thinking too highly of myself with regard to this... maybe somebody needs to bring me back down to earth
Thanks guys ! !!!
