Hi there
If anybody knows about Dell products I have a question. I am using a Dell laptop with 4GB of installed memory: OS has 358 GB of free memory out of 451 GB. the processor is intel celeron cpu 64 bit system. I dont really use it for anything except streaming and watching a digital tv channel. It is alway stopping and buffering so I would like to know if the laptop (lack of ram?) I have is likely causing the problem or if it is likely to be slow broadband as i live in a rural area. thanks for your help

Unless you can confirm another computer at that location is not doing the same, it is probably a limitation of your internet connection speed and/or the speed of site hosting the feed.

I met a few people over the past 5 years who return their pc to Bestbuy for refund saying their pc was not fast enough even when what they bought was an i7.

Turned out they had a $30 router which could not handle all that bandwidth thus slowing down everything connected to their ISP.

But if you know it is not a router problem then 100% advise you to listen to the postings above this post.

I had trouble a while back like 2 years ago and it ended up being the cheap wireless router I had from ATT. However, after upgrading the router it fixed the problem. I am using tier 3 DSL. Unfortunately some areas have more net congestion than others depending on your provider. Sometimes I see some interruptions, but often if I close the browser and open it again or reboot, I can get better conditions. This leads me to believe it is the OS or the browser or maybe some other recurring problem.

If you are getting interruptions in the net traffic it is often a sign of a bad wireless router. That is hard to test for when looking at the speed. Streaming should not take up much bandwidth. If you have cable TV, they stream 100 channels down one cable.
