Internship

Ok, the SAP thread got me thinking about internship again.

I know we have some HR folks lurking around here. 🙂

Would it be worth it for me to intern for a summer at 29/30 years old? Would I be better served by staying in school for that summer and trying to finish up or would an internship with a possible job offer be better? Also, would places even consider a 29/30 y.o. intern?

If I was an HR person or a hiring manager, I would probably want to hire a 29 year old intern. My first thought would be "Hmm.. he probably has lots of experience working in an office/team enviornment. He is probably also a little more stable then most 21 year olds". I used to work with a 27 year old co-op student and have known several more, but they were graduate students. An internship with a possible job offeris 50 times better than graduating and still now knowing what you want to do.

Thanks for the info TommyVercetti. Anyone have anything else to add?

For the record, I would be attempting to intern with SAP, which is where I wanted to go after graduation anyway.

If you perform well during internship, they might offer you a job after you graduate...

This is exactly how I got my current job...
