I'm currently finishing my Masters degree and had planned to finish with an internship with IBM in London. For reasons unknown to me, IBM backed off leaving me struggling to find a position. I posted a thread on this forum looking for help and have since "met" many great people who wanted to help. Here is an update. I got the following letter from my "pimp" (the guy who arranges internships for FSU students in London) .

Hello Mark...

Finally, Mark, I have confirmation....patience has paid off!

It looks like you will be placed with the Central Office for the Conservative Party to work with the media specialist on their website
(http://www.conservatives.com) and on designing websites for new candidates. There is no set time on this assignment, but after a month, two, or so, you will then work with Robert Rams, Assistant to Nigel Evans MP on his website. Chris Slone can fill you in on the work around Mr. Evans office, as she has had a summer's experience there as well. This sounds like a really exciting time and fantastic opportunity for you.

I expect to receive an e-mail in the near future on the security protocol necessary for admission to the Central Office from a Katie Purriell (spelling may be horribly off) and will let you know.

Congratulations. Please confirm with Chris Slone and myself if you will accept the position.

Take care,
Steven Rose

If you will be working for a conservative MP there are a few things you need to know:

1) Anyone who is not white and heterosexual is bad.
2) Labour and the Lib Dems are bad (anyone else just doesn't matter)
3) You must enjoy fox hunting.

The "new and caring" conservatives seem to be going against number 1, so this isn't as important as it once was. You must still dislike all Labour party members though.

Incidentally the MP who you are working for has his constituency about 30 miles from where I live, so you'll have to come up and visit :)

I'd love to visit. In regards to political affiliation, I'm more of a moderate myself, but am certainly not going against what FSU has offered me. I'm very excited and hope I can get a job out of it when I'm done.
