So I have my first interview for an internship coming up. I am in something of a weird situation. In summary:
* Currently working as a temp at a school. The temp position *can* be done by someone with no IT stills. I am fairly knowledgable, especially when it comes to hardware issues. With me vs another temp who isn't really familiar with computers, I am 2-3x faster with everything.
* I am currently assigned to one of ~3 techs within the district, but I have met and talked with all the others.
* I found out that the distrct hires interns as tech trainers (basically showing faculty how to use Word, e-mail, turn on the computer, etc).
* I sent in the internship app to the agency (the agency that does the internships is run by my college)
* From what I have been told and put together, the district also hires one IT intern per year. They had already hired someone. My understanding/guess is that she is not really qualified for the position (she had previously done the tech trainer internship). Now today I get an e-mail back from the internship agency saying that they wanted to interview me. Just to see I checked the website and it looks like the IT internship for the school district is now available...again. That would mean they withdrew the internship offer for the other person.
So, this is going to be a somewhat weird interview. I know the district IT department pretty well. They know me. The internship agency does *not* know me at all. Now, I did try to work into my app that I currently work (sortof) for the district, but am not sure that they know that or even what position(s) they want to interview me for.
The question is, how would you guys recomend I handle this? If I can get them to run my name by the district, I believe I stand a very good chance of getting it. If not, I will be just another canidate. I figure that I will go in and explain to them that I currently (sortof) work for the district the first opportunity I get (probably when they start asking about my experience). Anyone have any thoughts (other than this is a long post and I should have cliffs)?
