Internship help

Ok, about a month ago I updated my resume and put it on several company websites looking for internship positions. I got contacted shortly after about one of the positions I put in for, interviewed a couple times and was sent an offer letter (which I should be receiving today as its been about a week). The position is interesting but not what I'm most interested in.

Today I got an email from my first choice to fill out a pre-employment questionnaire. Ok, they probably send these out to hundreds if not thousands of folks. Anyways there is a spot on the questionnaire for additional comments should I mention I have a pending offer but I am more interested in working at my first choice or is that just dumb? My concern is that they will wait until after I've accepted this other position to contact me.

I ask because this has happened to me before, I accepted a coop and not two days later I got an offer from the company I was more interested in. I don't want to turn down the first one and end up with nothing, likewise I don't want to accept and miss out on what I really want.

Cliffs:
Got intern offer, not first choice.
Got questionnaire from first choice to be sent to hiring managers.
Do I mention intern offer on questionnaire to first choice?

yes, be honest about the offer you did receive. but also let them know that they are your first choice (make sure you mention why they are your first choice).

Yep ... it might spur them into quicker contact.

it's also added leverage when you negotiate wages, though for internships it might not work.

yes, you definately mention that you have an offer + the timeline you have with them (i.e. when you have to give the other company a yes/no).

if they are even somewhat interested in you, they will fit you within your time frame so you know if you have an offer before you have to make a decision on the first company.
