Interning one day a week?

Nocturnal

Lifer
Would interning one day a week help me any? I will be interning at my girlfriend's job. They just hired a new IT guy to run the entire network (small network) and I will be interning with this guy possibly one day a week due to my regular work and school schedule. Do you think I will be able to learn enough one day a week and if I stayed there for say a year would I be able to say I worked there a year?

I forgot to mention that I already work as a PC Tech. This job will be more to future proof my experience and skills in networking. The job deals with Windows 2000/2003 Server and AD stuff as well as repairing networks and PCs.

Also no, I'm not checking up on her. It's just that she knows the HR people there very well, it's a small company and they are more than happy to have me help them since they only have one person and he or she is going to be hired like in a few days.

Honestly, it depends on the work environment and what you will be doing specifically. I don't think one day is really enough to reap any tangible benefit though.

Little work experience is better than no work experience. Unless you're already working more hours than you can handle, there's no reason not to do it.

Is it paid or unpaid?

It is a non-paid position. I will be volunteering. I am doing it so I can gain as much experience as I can.

How many days a week would it require me to become knowledgeable at what I do?

For one, I only have my A+ and I'm going to school for an Associate degree in Computer Science at a community college.
