Same stupid stuff everytime, webpages acting like they have either been hacked, changed or bought by someone else. And people are dumb enough to fall for it. shheessh.

Yeah, I prefer sending viruses to people in emails and then calling in bomb threats to their workplaces. Not to mention pretending to be a guardian of their children and then escorting them to an undisclosed location where I then write a ransom note in pig's blood.

Ah, april first. good times.

Google's GMail was pretty clever, it's on the front page of CNN now. Suckers! 😀

Have we confirmed that it's a hoax? I'm looking at some of the info for it and they've put quite a bit more work into it than most other hoaxes. Just because it's announced on april 1 doesn't mean that it's necessarily fake.

Check how much storage space they are offering for a free email account.
1,000MB per account? You believe that?

Edit: Oh, and you can use the email service in any language you want 'even in Klingon'.

Hehe, I took a SS of my roommate's desktop and set as wallpaper and hid all his icons. Muwhahahhaha.

How do you hide all the icons on the desktop?

Select them all, then click and drag them off screen in one big group. Then drag his taskbar down to the minimum size and you're all set.

Google Gmail hasn't been confirmed as a joke.

There are elements in the story that seem real, but then there are also some elements that put it over the top (1 GB of storage per user, and claiming that they're doing it because one user complained).

It'd be neat if it were real, though. I'd love to leave hotmail and yahoo forever.

you are fools 🙂 google's translation service actually HAS a lot of languages, including Klingon <----
So why shouldn't they do it for the email ? i think they will use the same service then...

its real..i just found my posting from january where i reported that google will have email w/ the cnn link. For some reason noone seemed to read the msg 🙂

Here, old thread

makes me wonder if the 1 gig is actually real too.........i think its maybe a planned PR stunt (the 1 gig part...)..who knows...
Edit:
Planed PR stunt and '1gig' added to distract from the fact that it's a SPAM email-service..so people talk rather about the '1gig' instead of the fact that this will be the FIRST email service with targeted SPAM <---

I don't think the google email is a fake, I suspect they intend to become the managers of the most used free email in the world, and in the process own the use of more emails addresses than anyone else.

There'll be enough people that don't check the correct box & they'll get all the legal spam they can stand, or it'll be part of the terms of use contract that you have to take Google partner's spam. Storage is pretty cheap nowdays.

Google will make some serious money in the long run, esp if they allow legal spam.

I'd give Google money for an e-mail account, assuming it had some perks that the free accounts didn't.

my boss is flying out to Silicon Valley tomorrow to train the guys in our Cali DC. I was thinking of giving him a box of cookies to drop off at the Google complex, just to thank them for making the internet a better place 🙂
