Ran the following programs and now internet will not work:

AVG Anti Virus
HijackThis
MS Beta Antispyware
Search and Destroy

For some reason I cannot get an IP address at all no matter what. I have ran LSPFix and that did not work. Something in the registry must be preventing me from getting a connection. I have reset the cable modem also. Suggestions?

Hijackthis is known to be dangerous. :moon:

Try uninstalling and reinstalling TCP/IP (if you can...).

It's too early for a bump. :|

Cross posting, posting in the wrong forums, and early bumps. Tisk tisk.

Why can't you uninstall TCP/IP?
Does a static IP address work?
What happens when you ipconfig /renew?

I'm on a bit of a time constraint so my apologies. Windows XP will not allow an uninstall of TCP/IP. I do not believe charter allows static IP addressing. They are not using a router, so I need to get an IP address from the DHCP server. Ipconfig /renew does not work, tried that.

Once again, sorry.

There is stuff in application and system log, but I"m not sure what to look for. I really think it must be something that was inproperly taken out using hijackthis.

Open event viewer, try to renew the ip address, and see if anything new pops up in event viewer.
