Upload Speed 500 kbps

Choosing WOW over comcast because of the price, and because they allow more IP addresses at no charge.

With cable the costs are

1) 112/112---55.99
2) 500/300---60.99
3) 2000/300--65.99
4) 4000/500--75.99

I download stuff, online games, etc, so I know I would like the #4 package, but I am still trying to decide which is worth it monetarily.

WWJD--> What would joo do?

Option 1 is out of the question. Those are some pretty steep prices so I think Option 3 would be my choice.

PCM

I agree, thanks for the input.

PS. The prices include basic cable.... but the prices are still high on their own.

I think they are all overpriced. I pay $45 for 3000/384, but that is with Time Warner, I have no idea if Comcast charges that high....

Does $45 include basic expanded cable?

The #3 package seems like the sweet spot, 300kbs up isn't all that much though. I think ours is 256kbs up and if I'm uploading to my website at 10-15k/sec the internet is unusable. If my dumbass roomate hops on kazaa and downloads crap, it becomes unusable because kazaa will rape and pillage a connection like no other program I've seen.

If it's just you, you might go with the second package to save some money. Otherwise get the third one.

I can't believe 112/112 is that much. For what essentially amounts of dual 56k modem speeds, $56.mo is too much.

Edit: if it's basic cable (and I don't mean local + pbs stations, like discovery channel et al), then I'd get the most expensive plan. Those are pretty good prices for internet + cable. Except for the 112/112, that's still a ripoff.

Ah no, that would explain the difference 🙂

Hehe yeah, i didnt make it super clear in the OP.

I have 3000/256 right now through comcast... like $43 a month if you have cable through the $53 a month without cable (not counting cable costs)

Through the art of negotiation I have kept the comcast basic expanded cable + internet around $30 a month for 6 months, and 40 a month for 4 months.

I agree. I wouldn't take 1 or 2 either. I had 640/256Kbps up/down DSL, and I thought it was a tad slow, even for surfing more complex web sites.

I'm still lucky that Time Warner Cable/Road Runner haven't followed Comcast's lead and offered such low bandwidth for so much money. I'm still sitting pretty with 3000/300Kbps up/down for 44.95/mo. (W/ no tax on internet access in MN.)
