Dont know if this should go under Networking or Windows or General Hardware, but here it goes
My Win98 machine is having troubles browsing the internet. This just started out of the blue,(month or so) what is happening from what i can tell, it is not resolving dns names correctly and times out. Some times it will correct itself after loading up network neighborhood a couple of times, but lately that hasnt worked either. Ive tried re-installing the web browser (ie 5.5 sp2,ie 6 sp1, netscape 4.7, netscape 7) all with out luck. Ive re-installed the networking files, no luck. Ive even tried a differnet network card and still nothing. Tracert and ping from a command windows times out. Also tried a different port on the rounter and still nothing. Basically ive run out of ideas.
The odd thing is that my other 2 machines Windows 2000 and Windows XP both browse and work fine. This is all behind a Linksys Router (with nothing changed settings wise since i bought it) on a Static DSL account. And the windows 98 machine can browse and use the local network with out a problem.
So any ideas or insite would help. Thanks
