Internet trouble, sorry!

One of my computers isn't connecting to the internet. It's a wireless connection to an adsl router. I've fiddled about a bit, and reset tcp/ip as suggested in a previous thread, but it still doesn't work. Strangely my router gives 192.168.2.2 as the assigned ip address, while the computer reports 169.254.57.102. The wireless connection is good (it says).
Thanks for your help.

I've bought everything recently. It was working till yesterday; I don't know what could have changed.

My kids computer had a similar set up and quit working. I looked at the connection on their and discovered it somehow got turned off. Turned it back and it worked fine. My kids know how to turn it on now if it ever happens again.

Hold the reset button on your router in for about 30sec then release it after that the router should assign the computer a new IP address

The 169 address is an automatic windows address when windows cant find a dhcp server. You could try putting in a static ip address setting with that 192 address and see if it works.

The router and comuter number differences are normal.

Actually thats not correct, the 169 address is something windows uses when it doesnt see the dhcp server, it means its not talking to the dhcp server and most times, the whole network as well.
