I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces.
All while singing tenor in the Army Choir.

Tell her you didn't appreciate hearing such foul language. Eat a jar on peanut butter in front of her. Lick the spoon. Give her the Magnum Look®.

And walk away.

If you can confirm it, tell her that you agree: Her kid really *IS* a f--king retard. If she objects to anyone else calling her kid a retard, point out how much worse it is for him to hear it coming from her. Then call HER a retard for good measure.

I understand the impulse to call my kids a whole slew of nasty things, but actually doing it is another thing entirely. Five year old kids can be pretty difficult for many reasons, but there's no excuse to treat one of them like that because they're basically still toddlers in a lot of ways. It's really sad to hear people talk to their kids like that. Discipline has nothing to do with name calling. My kids are 3 and 5 and they have a very healthy respect for boundaries because I lay them down with almost no wiggle room - all of which is done without insulting them.

I'd have said something most likely.

If my kid is acting like a fucking retard, I call him a fucking retard.

If he's acting like a little shit, I call him a little shit.

The tone in my voice is the discipline. And what's it to you? Sounds like you're a moron who doesn't believe in saying "no" to a kid...or maybe you're an entitled millenial whose never been told "no" so you don't know what it's like.

Newsflash: the real world sucks and the faster you learn that, the better off you'll be.

You're a fucking simple minded dumbass. That's really all there is to it. Yes, a sense of entitlement is why I think calling your children "fucking retard" is bad. I was told "no" a billion times as a kid, and even though I know I acted like a fucking retard, my parents never disrespected me that way. Let us know how your shitty style of discipline helps your children, idiot.

You walk up, look the parent straight in the eye, and say:

"Genetics."

Then walk away.

Alternatively, "I can see where s/he gets it."

So, do you climb a tree and beat your arms on your chest? Do you fight over Bananas? If the answer is no, then I suspect you do not in fact, have experience or training in gorilla warfare!

Options seem to be:

1. Call child protective services, who won't do diddly about it unless the kid is being physically abused;

2. Verbally confront adult about it...99.9% odds are that it won't change anything about their behavior, it will just piss them off and just make whatever job/payment arrangements there are in place more difficult. they will probably complain to your supervisor (or BBB if you are self-employed) with some made-up BS about your work, etc.;

3. Physically confront adult by giving them the hardest bitchslap you can possibly muster. Although this is really what is needed in this situation, again, they are likely to call cops and the person arrested will be you, no matter how much in the right you will have been.

4. Forget you heard it and feel sorry for the kid that is being raised by such a piece of shit and feel even worse that as a result of their parent, the kid will end up in juvy one day, then jail, then have kids of their own and repeat the cycle again....which wil lead you to feel sorry for our society as a whole.

5. Decide that the kid probably is a fucking retard and go on your merry way.

EDIT: forgot this one...

6. Realize that growing up in such a tough environment will allow the kid to become a Navy SEAL, who will then have issues b/c of that upbringing, so instead of protecting the country, he will devote his time to posting on internet message boards.

Just call her a fucking retard after you get paid. "Like Mother like son"

If you think you're really going to teach these mouthbreathers a lesson then you're sorely mistaken.

I'm assuming you wouldn't care to hear someone's unsolicited opinion on your parenting so mind your own. People get uptight about the use of the word retard like you are sitting there implying whoever you called a retard has an extra copy of a chromosome. The kid might be fucking retarded in the traditional sense. Could still be crapping himself at that age. That's retarded.

I'm highly trained in gorilla warfare, but it's been awhile. I may have slowed down with age.

Just finishing up a house (electrical), and am pretty sure I just heard the home owner call one of her kids (approx. 5 years old) a f_cking retard. I'm going to try to verify it discreetly, but if it's true I won't be able to ignore it.
So, tough guys/gal, what would you do?

Mind my own business?!

Hit her right in the face, as hard as you can. If she called her kid a retard, in most states the law protects you from prosecution for striking her with bare hands.
