Put a network card in both (if they don't have one) and connect them with a crossover cat5 cable. If they're too far apart for that, you MIGHT be able to put a wireless card in the XP machine and configure an ad-hoc wireless network to the 98 machine, with two IP addresses assigned to the 98 machine's wireless card (assuming it's a standard wireless card). I don't know for sure if wireless cards can be given multiple IPs and networks.

What does the 98 machine connect to for wireless access?

You have not given us enough information. You said computer A is connected to the internet via a wireless connection...I'm guessing your using a WAP or something like that along with a router. If thats the case...just go and buy another wireless card and drop it in computer B. Then use the the WIN XP disk in computer A (when you drop the disk in you will be given a choice to ugrade to XP or to install other stuff...choose the other stuff) and install the home networking thats on the disk. Its simple..

Yesterday i networked both of my computers using a crossover wire. Computer A is connected to internet using linksys router which is a bit far.
1) I am not really looking to spend another $30-40 on a wireless network card for my XP machine.
2) I cannot connect machine w/ windows XP to router so only choice i have is via machine with win 98 (not SE).
3) I am using a crossover wire to link two computers. I cannot see shared c: drive of windows xp from the computer that has windows 98 but i can access its c: drive from the computer that has windows XP?

How can i get online from the machine which has XP. What am i Missing here.
I did what "stockjock" said to do "Then use the the WIN XP disk in computer A (when you drop the disk in you will be given a choice to ugrade to XP or to install other stuff...choose the other stuff) and install the home networking thats on the disk. Its simple.. "
