Can ne1 tell me how i get internet sharring a 2 pc lan link with a cross over cable (no hub involed). i am running win98 on the host and win98 or win2k on the other 1

Setup a network between the 2 PCs, then run Windows ICS or other 3rd party NAT software...

Instructions on how to setup network is avaliable here:
HomePCLAN

the most reasonable and smartest thing here would be to run windows 2000 as the server, why aren't you? that makes no since 🙂 I know that you have a reason for it probably, but in reality, it would be much more secure and better to run the windows 2000 as the server.

email me if you need help setting that up

the reason i'm not using win2k as the server is cos the win98 pc is the obly pc that has the modem in and is in the same room as the modem

can u sugest ne third party software that will alow me to run icq, mirc, gamespy and internet explorer with out 2 much setting up to do

Sygate will be quite easy to setup... I used it before and it did not need any configurating at all... All you need to do is install the software on the server PC as server mode, and set all your client PC's gateway to the internal IP of the server PC... no installation needed on the client PCs...
