Internet Security suites question

Hey i am looking at either getting Kaspersky or the newer norton security suit. i wanted to know a a general rule when doing a clean install do you
1) Install all your software(legit software nothing hacked) first then security app?
or
2) Do you install security app first then all software?

Basically after i install my os and drivers. Should my internet security be installed before my software(ie Ms office, Adobe etc etc) or after?

1 and 2 seem to be the same thing. Personally I install all Windows updates/patches and then security app.

My only recommendation would be to install your security suite before connecting to a network. And when you do connect it to the Internet for the first time, your first task should be to patch all of your software.

Or before plugging in a USB stick.

Cool thanks for the replies. Install before there is an internet connection is the only important step (usb memory stick as well)
