Internet Problem

I have a question regarding a problem with my internet that's popped up recently -

Last week, while I was using my internet, it suddenly stopped working. I figured it was simply a problem with our ISP, as sometimes in the winter they get power failures that knock out the internet for a few hours. However, the following day it still wasn't working, and has continued to not work up until now. Now, I'm far from clueless as far as computers and hardware go, but when it comes to internet problems, I'm kind of lost. I really have no idea where to begin as far as troubleshooting, so any help would be appreciated.

Here are the facts -

My home network goes as such -

Internet (cable) - Router (ethernet) - My PC/My Dad's PC

At first I thought it might have been a problem with the router, so I unplugged the ethernet cable leading from the router to my PC and plugged it into a laptop, but on the laptop the internet worked fine. So in essence, the signal is coming from the cable internet into the router, and the router is feeding it into the ethernet cable to my PC, but it's stopping when it gets to my PC (and not stopping if I plug it into other PCs). As a side note, the internet on my Dad's PC has been working continuously the whole time.

Windows says my network connection is connected (I'm using XP), but when I go to "Properties," there's always 0 bits sent or received, and Windows can't repair the connection because it can't renew the IP address. Also, in my router's manual, to set up the router you go to your browser and enter in an IP address to go to the setup page - I did this with my computer, and the page wasn't able to load.

Hopefully that's enough info to point in the right direction, and I'm hoping it's something that can be fixed with a simple "just go into control panel and..." answer, but at this point really any kind of advice would help, because I have no idea where to go from here. So thanks for any and all help, and - Merry Christmas!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys, as my internet wasn't working haha, but I tried the first few things from the links and they didn't work, so I ended up buying an NIC (with a gift certificate, thankfully), and now it's back. Thanks for the help!
