Internet Problem/Restart Problem

I just upgraded a Sony PCG-R505TE laptop from Windows ME to XP and everything is working smooth except for a few things. The first issue is that certain web sites won't load or take a long time to load. AOL.com is one such site. It doesn't load in either IE or Firefox and I installed Flash 8.0. I also can't install AOL 9.0 SE from the download section on AOL's site. The download is a small file that tries to download another file and then times out and gives an error message. I have all firewall software disabled at the moment. Additionally, sometimes the computer goes to an all black screen after performing a restart. I have to hold the power button and then turn it back on. Finally, I can't seem to find an appropriate driver for the jog dial under the touch pad. The one on Sony's site under the correct model for XP won't work. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Al

After running a DFT advanced test, the drive has bad sectors!!! What is a good program to try and remove/mark them? How about HD regenerator?

Can you run a thorough scandisk - it will take some time - set it to fix automatically.
Then, rescan with the DFT again.
