Internet/OS problem plz help!

im a nooob at this stuff...my computer has been shaky for acouple of months...when i am connected to the internet there this site that pops up out of nowhere every 7-10 mins its silvermagnet.com/babe.html...i guess this is spyware not sure (i don't have any spyware removal tools if it is spyware mention the tool you highly recommended)


I also got this annoying problem when i log off/shutdown etc, right before logging off "ctfmon.exe" doesn't end, as well as "Explorer.EXE" they seem to freeze everytime before shutting down being the noob that i am i have no clue why it keeps doing this it gets annoying

help is greatly appreciated

you have some spyware, and hopefully not viruses either.
Adaware is a good one as is spybot both of which have free usable downloads. Run both. Like antivirus software, one may miss what another catches. It wouldnt hurt to run an antivirus check on your system too. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/">antivirus.com</a>[/L] has a good online antivirus scanner and so does ravantivirus.com.

If you have problem removing spyware or viruses, try booting in safe mode with networking and removing them. If not look for a specialized removal tool.

random popups that occur for no seemingly good reason is usually an indication of some sort of spyware on your system. as for the freeze-up during shutdown, it's usually spyware related - for one reason or another, windows can't seem to get the application out of memory, perhaps.
