I need to pick up a cheap video card and hard drive for mom-in-law for her 'fast' computer that I am now required to build. Too much bragging about how faster my new 'cheap' system is.
Plans so far: Andara BB, 750 duron, 256 MB pc133, 20 GB, 32 MB AGP, onboard sound (she'll never know)
Recycle old kbd/ms/cdr/win98se
She only does internet browsing and email with a 15" 32bit color 800X600 display. Is a 32 MB nvideo or geforce too much? 8? I'm trying to not make this a game machine. But I do need it to be night-and-day difference over her old PC (266 '98ish Packard Bell).
We could reuse her old 3 GB hd (model?)- is a 5400 ata66 that much faster? Would boot time be that much quicker from faster hd?
Hopefully I can time this present as she gets her cable dsl installed- extra Xmas presents for me!
