Internet on a new XP machine.

I recently formatted one of my boxes at home to re-install Windows XP (Professional version, in this case).

Anyways, almost every time after I have re-formatted any of my computers I always have the problem of getting it connected to the internet.

I have a wireless network here, and I have tried changing it through
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Network Setup Wizard
I have tried all the options there, and none of them seem to work.

Also, I have gone to Internet Explorer's options and made sure that under the Connections tab, in the LAN Settings section, the "Automatically detect settings" box is checked.

I don't know what to do now.

How do I get this damn machine connected to the internet?

Thanks in advance.

Control Panel -> Wireless Network Setup Wizard? (in classic view)

I know what you mean, it took me a while to set up mine to use the internet as well, I just can't remember what the problem was!

Try using a wired connection until you've downloaded all the service packs and updates. The differences between XP with no service pack and XP with service pack 2 is mind boggling.

Drat. That's right! I wasn't even thinking pre-SP2 there. The wireless support doesn't exist before that.... (at least in an easy way)
