Ok I'm a newbie to this stuff and need some help! Here's my setup:

Desktop Computer w/NIC *Win 2000 Professional
Laptop Computer w/NIC *Win 2000 Professional
Fujitsu Speedport DSL Modem
SMC 5-Port HUB

Now how can I get Internet access to both of these computers through the one DSL connection, without buying a router? Is there any way I can plug the DSL Modem into the HUB and do it or what? Please help me folks :)

Thanks in advance-

1) In the future, you should post networking questions in the networking forum

2) You would need some sort of router...luckily, you can "make" a router out of your win2k desktop. But you will first need to get a second network card for it.

Once you have 2 NIC's installed, you can set up internet connection sharing....then, you would input the DLS into NIC 1 and share the DSL to the hub out of NIC2...that way, your desktop would "route" the internet to all other computers.

It's pretty easy to do, and i can give you some more instructions once you install a second NIC in your desktop

If you're really lazy, you can acutally use InternetShare to share the internet connection without a router, AND without a 2nd NIC in one of the boxes! Check it out here.
