Internet not working after coming off standby

I'm connected to the internet via a cable modem to the NIC that is installed on the mobo. A few days ago, this problem started where the internet stops working after coming off standby. The connection still exists, but the computer is not receiving any data. I have no idea how this started. I tried running ipconfig /release and then ipconfig / renew, but that doesn't work until I restart my computer. In addition, after I run ipconfig /release the IP address isn't showing up as zeros. Any ideas what the problem could be?

What IP address are you getting? A Motorola cable modem will hand out 192.168.0.11 IIRC while it is in standby.
And ave you tried powercycling the modem?
