Well I haven't succeeded in that department :(

Please don't talk about girls, heck, the sad memories come back at once. After all, this is almost a guys only place.

I found my wife online, just chatting on a web chat site.

Sure I couldn't find a local wife I had to reach all the way out to Canberra, Australia :)

This is unbelievable. She flew all the way from Australia not even knowing you in person or you did? Heck, it's like a fairytale come true.

CT2TXtech I definitely think it's a possibility. How well do you typically know a lil shawty you see at the checkout counter or wherever and hit on her? Either way you have to learn the good and the bad of the person. The only difference is one you met in person and the other you didn't.

Also, I think you reveal much more about yourself initially online than you would in person. The semi-anonymity allows you to be more free in discussing your feelings.

LOL..yes, it's easy to get the ole booty call online but love takes a little more work.

Neither of us were chatting online to find a spouse or even relationship. Just to meet other people and kill some dead time.

She visited here 3 summers on a row (90 days each visit) after knowing her (and speaking with her parents) for 3.5 years I proposed, she accepted, my family flew to Australia and we got married. This was 2 years 2 months ago.

Heck, this is absolutely terrific. I thought stories like that can happen only in movies.

I'm saying that b/c I haven't been able to meet anyone online and to keep interest in each other for longer that say... uhm... some 10 days maybe. Wish I could establish a relationship with some woman that would last 3.5 years and not 3.5 days. It's a real mystery to me why such a simple thing is impossible, I still don't understand. Maybe I'm unattractive even online, heck, this is going to suck for me.

Wow, go RossMAN.

I had a relationship that started online... she lived in Virginia and I am in Chicago. Worked for a couple of months, but we only got to see each other a couple times. Didn't really work out.

Can't say I've ever done the online booty call, and that's kinda out of the question now considering I am engaged.

My wife and I met through a mutual friend who thought we'd like eachother. We maintained a relationship online at first, and then on the phone. When she finished grad school, she moved out here, and we were married a year later. It can work. They're the same people you'd meet in person. Just take it slow, so you get to know the real person, not their online persona.

I met my girlfriend on match.com. We were both tired of the bar scene and the dating scene, and tried out the internet, and it worked.

A good friend of mine met his wife through an on-line personals ad. There is nothing wrong with internet love, even though people tend to frown on it or think that it is dumb. I think they just fail to realize that the internet is another medium for communication.

Excellent advice.

I think what really made us stand out from the typical internet love couple was we never intended to find love online. We just started chatting, become pen pals, emailed a few times, chatted online a lot, then IM, then on the phone. She visited here as a friend, next as a girlfriend, then as a girlfriend again, next time I saw her we were getting married.

Get to know each other, take it nice and slow, if the chemistry is there ... things should work out.

Mine's pretty much the same way, started out with e-mail, then phone. I've been out there three times, she's been here three times, & she's going to be here next week.

I sort've met my girlfriend online.

I met her mom online, we became good friends.. I met her kids, and the rest is history. :)

She lived with her Dad in Washington, and wanted to finish up the school year up there.. so we maintained an online relationship(seeing eachother on average once every 3 weeks or so) for the 7 months or so before she moved down here with me.

Too bad that couldn't work out for me, I don't believe in friendship between a man and a woman and would never seek one. Heck, what kind of a friendship is that if we don't have anything in common?

Absolutely! Living testament right here. I met my woman on line. Most perfect match I've ever been with and couldn't be happier.

Edit: Like someone else said, we weren't looking for love at the time. Just met using Yahoo chat and became good on line friends, found out we lived relatively close, one thing led to another and the rest was history...

You really could never be friends with a female?

Why?
