I finished reformatting (yay! everything is so much faster now) for the first time in like a year. But for some odd reason, my internet keeps going on and off! It seems like it has some sort of connection because it takes a while to say connection to <IP>, but then I get an error. When trying to connect to google, it says "internet Explorer could not open the search pace. BUT the thing is though this is the most common occurence, but sometimes, after waiting a long time, it actually loads! And then when I try to go to another website, I get 404 >_<. What's more vexing is that (sometimes, not always) other online applications like Bittorrent and AIM sitll work but internet explorer doesnt! I can't even access my own router!

I know its just my computer, because I tried a different computer on the same router and it works.

My setup is:
Windows XP SP 2 (Just downloaded, could automatic updates be the cause?)
Linksys network adapter
Chaintech vnf4
athlon 64 3500+

Im going crazy over this bullcrap, please help me out!

did you try restarting the router just to see if it would start working.. I get that problem sometimes, where one computer does not work while all others do. I believe it has to do with DNS and some programs will us just regular IP address and work fine but when you type in www.google.com you have no DNS server to tell you the IP. Not sure why it would start and stop working, you might have a bad port

wow that is odd.. check the network connections to see what DNS address it is and see if your other computers use the same one
